Embracing the Call to Serve: Following Christ’s Example
Jesus Christ, our Savior, set the ultimate example of service during His time on earth. He came not to be served, but to serve, and His life was marked by acts of love, compassion, and humility. As His followers, we are called to emulate His example and serve others with the same selflessness.
In Mark 10:45, Jesus said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” This statement encapsulates the heart of Christian service—it is about putting others before ourselves and acting out of love.
Serving others is not always convenient or easy, but it is a powerful way to demonstrate God’s love. Galatians 6:9-10 encourages us: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
Moreover, serving others is a form of worship. When we serve, we honor God by reflecting His love to the world. Matthew 25:40 reminds us, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” Every act of service, no matter how small, is significant in God’s eyes.
Example, we not only bless others but also grow in our faith and strengthen our relationship with God. Let us be His hands and feet in a world that desperately needs His love.
